CREDO
Art is the last truly free domain of our civilisation, and Metal in all its forms has always been the living proof of the otherwise rapidly dwindling freedom of creation and expression. It is a catalyst of man‘s darkest psychic abysses, and an irreplacable tool to transform socially incompatible and destructive impulses into exclusive and exquisite celebrations of pure adrenaline and endorphine in congregations of kindred spirits.
This unique cultural heritage is regularly endangered in a society of totalitarian spiritual mindfuck and boundless stupidity. But the rebellious nature of the music and surrounding art that we love will always prevent authorities from being able to control and censor that which is sacred to us and maybe blasphemous to others. That's the nature of pleasure, people - tastes and needs are as diverse as the people that carry them. Nobody is forced to listen to anything, and any attempt to decide for others what they should or shouldn't see or hear is an insult to individual intelligence - reality is an illusion, and man's sheepish need to limit its infinite vastness for himself and everyone around him only proves how little our species has evolved since we climbed down from the trees.
We practise true spiritual alchemy, and we will forever fight for the freedom to travel the worlds behind our eyes, and share our visions and philosophies with our kin in whichever way we fucking please.
As a band, we seem to be surprisingly hard to categorize, as we learn from the reactions we get on our music. Is it Thrash, Death, Prog or whatever Metal?
It amuses us greatly that the simple fact of having a blastbeat under clean guitars, both growls and melodic vocals in the same song, more than two riffs in a row, or more than 4 different notes on our fretboards apparently confuses the oh-so-liberated metal scene so much that they find no other way to describe us than "totally bizarre" or "mega-complex". We are honoured to get credit for having our own style from the beginning, but the music is not at all about complexity or bizarreness. We all worked our asses off to learn our instruments (and still do so every day), and we simply use the tools available to us as best we can to create something powerful and overwhelming.
Check it out for yourself, then you will know what we do. We don't care about the stylistic conventions and terminology that the scene traps itself in. The world is too big, and the palet of distorted delectations too wide to try and fit in a drawer that limits the artist to copy his favourite band and write the same song over and over again - this has nothing to do with the mystery of creation.
Complexity for complexity's sake (as found so often in the "progressive" genre) has no value in itself - it produces non-enjoyable, superfluous strings of notes that have no soul and that nobody wants to hear. On the other hand, the refusal to develop is a death sentence for an artform, since, sooner or later, it renders the music meaningless and outdated in an ever-changing universe.
Our music is for all lovers of extreme metal, as well as for everybody who can relate to the worlds
and contents we make heard. We try to offer alternative realities for those equally disgusted by the one we're forced to inhabit. Whatever we do, it's all Metal, and this is all the categorization anyone needs. Just because it doesn't sound exactly like everything else doesn't mean that it's not accessible, or true. And as for our alleged bizarreness: our aim is to make great music, not bizarre music, and we've only just begun......

PREHISTORY
NONEUCLID was formed as a band in the summer of 2004 in Landshut / Germany, after the name had served for a few years as a “drawer” for loose Metal-related studio productions of composer / guitarist Morean. The name Noneuclid refers to dimensions outside conventional reality as defined by Greek mathematician Euclid, and their music strives to open mental doors to the worlds beyond.
Morean, after having grown up in the same Thrash Metal basement as his fellow bandmembers from the Bavarian province, moved to the Netherlands in ‘94 to study flamenco guitar with Paco Peņa at the conservatory of Rotterdam. In 2001, he graduated cum laude in classical composition at the same school, after which he found himself unexpectedly infected with a blooming career as a contemporary composer.
His works earned him international composition prizes and nominations, broad media exposure, world-wide performances with distinguished international orchestras, ensembles and soloists in concerts and on renowned festivals (a.o. Tanglewood, Gaudeamus, Moscow Autumn, November Music, Filmfestivals of Cannes and Rotterdam). His oevre comprises symphonic music, concertos, chamber music, electronics, film scores, dance and multimedia productions as well as world music / crossover projects.
Morean has always believed in extreme Metal as a highly original, virtuosic and expressive art form, and, despite the diverse nature of his music, he has never been able to deny his musical roots. Every single one of his pieces has used their elements, be it growls, heavy guitars, brutal riffs or blastbeats, if necessary presented in “respectable” symphonic halls by classical orchestras. Considering this chronical adrenaline addiction, the founding of a pure metal band was only a logical consequence. Recruiting some old friends which are normally rocking in bands like Dark Fortress, The Shroud and The Grapefruit Dead, Noneuclid was set up as a live band in july 2004. One psychotic month later, most of the self-produced first album THE CRAWLING CHAOS was recorded, of course on a nonexistent budget and under extreme time pressure. It took a while, but Merciless Records were the first to find the courage to release something as unpredictable as this first manifesto of cosmic death.
